About

Welcome to GeekZu.com – a blog that showcases web apps, software, computer tips and downloads that make your life simpler, and work more productive. The idea behind GeekZu is to bring you the best sites of the web that you’ve never heard of, best software, and “how to’s” for computer, mobile etc. Anything that’s good, free, and awesome is listed here (or will be on your request).

GeekZu was launched on August 2009, and has since gained a lot of trust and loyal readers. Our Twitter handle has 6000+ followers. Over 5000 people “like” us on Facebook. And our YouTube channel is an ever-growing commodity.

Behind The Scenes…

Hello! My name is Karan Goel and I am the Founder and Editor of GeekZu.com. I am a 17 year-old blogger from India.

I have been blogging since late 2006. My first blog was a free blogger blog on which I used to blog about Mobiles. Even though I was totally new to Blogging and other related stuff, I had that passion and will that pushed me forward.

I like everything that a normal teen would like – studying, playing, hanging out, bunking classes, girls (I don’t have one, though) etc. It’s just that I am into Internet and Computers more that any of my friends or relatives. None of my friends have a website or a personal homepage online – and they don’t want to either. For them, life begins at school and ends at a good 9-to-5 job – “enough to support their family”.

I am a bit different. For me, a person who isn’t present on the blogosphere, isn’t alive. Believe me, that might be a harsh statement, but it’s true.

The 6-Years’ Wait!

I got my first computer in 2003.  I had no internet connection for the first 2 years and used it just to play games, or complete some schools projects. Then, my father gave me a magical thing – a dial-up internet connection. I know you might be laughing out there, but it was something great to me. From then, my web-life began.

Slowly, I experimented with my PC (Improvements down below) to know more about it. I surfed as much as I could – and as less too – it’s a dial-up connection .

Then in June 2008, I had my first ever Broadband connection. My life changed after that. I began learning more about the Internet. As I learned more, I started feeling that I should also give something back to others. That was the time when I started my first blog on Blogger.com.

In August 2009, I bought my first ever domain name – karangoel.in! Later, I felt that a “.in” was too much location-specific. Hence, I moved to the present dot-com.

The one man army

The About page has been too centric about just one person. There’s a reason. I am the only one who built this site, who designed it, who maintains it, and who writes here.

It’s quite a difficult task to write in such a manner and such a frequency that almost all the topics are covered. GeekZu is now open for guest-bloggers. Contact me if you want to write for us.
