Lost Your Calculator? Google Can Help You
By: Karan Goel | 20th April 2010
If you are a person like me, then the one program that never closes is your web browser. And why to close it when you can access your email, calender etc?
But, why use it only for conventional purposes? Why not use it more efficiently. And again, Google comes to the rescue. Why not use Google as a calculator? Why? Because calculations are a part of our daily routine and web can be handy in it.
We’ll move in a systematic manner, from Basic calculations to the advanced ones.
Basic Calculations

Getting started with Google as a calculator is easy: just type in what you want to calculate. If you’re stupid, for example, and don’t know what one plus one is, a quick search for 1 + 1 will give you the result.
Subtraction (1-1), Multiplication (1*1), and division (1/1) are all simple, as are exponents (5^6).
A complete list of the functions Google’s calculator can use can be found here.
Advanced Calculations

The Google calculator isn’t limited to just basic calculations; it can be a very handy converter. For example, converting miles to kilometers, Fahrenheit to Celsius, currency conversions etc.

What do you guys think? Do you prefer another search engine to Google, and want to discuss its merits over Google?
