Zopim – Chat Live With Your Website Visitors

Now a days, a business should have a website that is rich in social features allowing comments and feedback and multiple ways for their customers to spread the word about their products and services. The real tech savvy companies can even even provide live chat support to their visitors.

Companies like Zopim make this was too easy. In this article I will share how you too can easily chat online with your website visitors using the Zopim live chat software.

Signing Up

To sign up with Zopim, head on over to Zopim and click the orange “Sign Up Free” button. The only information they ask for here is your first and last name, display name, and your email address.

Insert The Code

Once you have signed in, you will be taken to the set up process. First things first: grab the widget code to insert into your site. Begin by clicking the “Embed widget on my site” button off to the left. You’ll then be given the code.

I use WordPress so the process of inserting it into my footer file was quite easy.

On refreshing your site, you’ll see the widget in the bottom-right corner of your blog.

Customize And Analyze

For further customizations and analysis of the usage of the widget, all you need to do is logon to your Zopim dashboard and check out the Customize widget button.

I like Zopim a lot, when it is up and working. There is weekly down time that can be 6 – 12 hours or more. I would prefer to pay more and have a service that I can rely on. Is there another live chat that works similar to Zopim that actually stays online consistently? Zopim is too unreliable.

    Hey Genie.

I Googled a bit about the above said downtime, but found little about it. Anyways, if it's down for you, there are alternatives for it. You could go in for Olark (http://www.olark.com/) or Plupper (http://www.plupper.com/).
