2 Easiest Ways To Add Social Bookmarking Buttons In Your Blog
By: Karan Goel | 27th November 2009
It was an old time when webmasters used to depend on just the search engines for their traffic. They concentrated only on SEO.
But now, with the emergence of sites like Digg, StumbleUpon etc, the trend has changed. Now the webmasters see the high-rise spikes of traffic from these Social Bookmarking sites.
So if you have a blog or a website, and think it is good enough to compete in the arena, then you must add social bookmarking buttons, just like the ones Gizmoko has! I have listed the two easy ways to do so.
WordPress is the best and the most flexible free blogging platform available. The first plugin we’ll look at is one you’ll recognise from many different blogs. The tweet button.
Twitter is the fastest of all social media sites by its very ‘micro-blogging’ nature so having it at the top of the post works best.
Download and install this plugin.
Here’s a quick guide on how to install a plugin in a WordPress blog.
When you are in the wp-admin panel, click on the Plugins option in the left-side menu of the screen. Then hit ‘Add new‘. To the top of the page click ‘Upload‘ and browse the zip file you downloaded earlier. After the uploading and installation process is finished, click ‘Activate‘. Each post on your blog will now have a “Retweet” button.
The simpler way is to search for “Tweetmeme” from the Plugins page and the Retweet Button plugin should appear as the first result. Click on “Install” to add it to your plugins.
Add This
The picture of the plugin you see on the left is one of the most used Social Bookmarking buttons used. With support of over 200 Social Media websites, the free tool is pretty easy to install.
When on the plugin menu in the WP-Admin screen, select search and enter ‘Add This‘. This popular plug-in should appear. Click on it and then select the option to install it on your blog. Each post will now bear this button.
What social media do you use on your blogs?
