I’m a big Firefox fan and use it for 99% of my Internet-related tasks. For my video downloading needs, I use the excellent Download Helper extension. It supports hundreds, if not thousands of different sites. It automatically detects videos streaming on a page, and provides a link to download the videos to your PC. The core limitation here is that you need to start the video for a second or so, before it is detected.
